The DMV Dermatology NP + PA Group Fall Meet & Greet
In October 2023, I created the DMV Dermatology NP + PA Group, a networking group for practicing and aspiring Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Associates (PAs) in medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology living in DC, Maryland and Virginia. In this article, I provide an update on the mission of the group, our new locations, upcoming events, and what to expect in the new year! A special shout out to Caleb and Derek, our new Advisors in Blacksburg and Richmond, respectively. Our new expansion would not be possible without them!

Welcome to the DMV Dermatology NP/PA Group!
We are a vibrant networking community for practicing and aspiring Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Associates (PAs) specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology within the DC, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) area. We invite you to copy and share our graphics below on all your social media platforms and via text and/or email with your dermatology colleagues.

Our Mission: To increase access to dermatology education, mentorship, and professional development for practicing and student nurses, NPs, and PAs.
What We Offer: - Education: Access to the latest dermatology resources and information. Pending CE opportunities. - Mentorship: Guidance from experienced professionals in the field. - Professional Development: Opportunities to advance your career through networking and educational events. - Entrepreneurial Insights: Support and information for those looking to start or grow their own practices.
How We Communicate: Join our private Facebook page where members share valuable information about patient care, professional and personal development, and entrepreneurial opportunities. You can also vote on and stay updated about in-person events.
Membership Requirements: To gain access to our Facebook page and events, you must: 1. Answer all the membership questions.
2. Provide your medical license number for verification or proof of enrollment in a nursing, NP, or PA program if you're a student.
3. A limited number of students will be permitted to in-person events. There is no limit on student access for virtual programs at this time.

A doctorally-prepared Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner with a passion for writing, entrepreneurship, education, and mentorship. My mission is to: 1) Translate how the latest evidence-based data on skin, hair, and nails can be applied to improve health equity for diverse communities. 2) Educate nurse practitioners about skin of color, inclusive and culturally appropriate care, and artificial intelligence in dermatology. 3) Create an ecosystem for nurse practitioners interested in medical and cosmetic dermatology to obtain mentorship, education, and training. 4) Develop a practice framework for nurse practitioners to follow so they can move beyond the bedside and toward board leadership and business.
